59 — Between Jerusalem and the End of the World

BETWEEN JERUSALEM AND THE END OF THE WORLD

(LUKE 21:5-38)

The last days are known for chaos and persecution, so Jesus calls you to wisdom, which means patiently waiting for his return.

  • THE DESTRUCTION OF THE TEMPLE (VV. 5-7, 20-24)

  • THE END OF THE WORLD (VV. 25-33)

  • WISDOM AND COMFORT (VV. 8-19, 34-38)

Discussion Starters

Monday—Do you enjoy talking about the end times or does it scare you? Why? What do you tend to focus on when you talk about it?

Tuesday—The signs for both the destruction of the temple and the end of the world appear immediately preceding the events. Why do you think God doesn’t give more time?

Wednesday—Why does Jesus need to tell us not to be surprised by suffering? (vv. 9-12) When suffering comes, do you tend to be surprised? Where does that lead?

Thursday—Where do you tend to seek false comfort when hard times come? (vv. 8, 34) Why is this dangerous? Where should you seek comfort?

Friday—Jesus says to pray while we await his return. (v. 36) What should you be praying for? Is this how you pray regularly? Why or why not?
