66 — The Pattern of Worship

THE PATTERN OF WORSHIP

(LUKE 24:13-53)

Every week the Lord meets with us by his Holy Spirit and ministers to us through preaching and the Lord’s Supper.

  • Jesus Final Act with His Disciples was to Explain the Scriptures and Share a Meal (vv. 36-53)

  • On the Road to Emmaus, Jesus sets a Pattern for Worship (vv. 13-35)

  • We Follow the Same Pattern Every Sunday

Discussion Starters

Monday—What do you tend to think is the most important part of the worship service? How do different traditions tend to answer that question? What leads each to their conclusion?

Tuesday—Are you tempted to think that the story is over after the resurrection? What is so important that Jesus delayed his ascension into heaven?

Wednesday—What is all scripture about? How does that affect how you read your Bible? What should you expect every Sunday from the pastor?

Thursday—Does the language in our passage and 1 Corinthians 10:16 & 29 about the Lord’s Supper make you uncomfortable at all? Why or why not? How is the Lord calling you to grow in your understanding of the Lord’s Supper?

Friday—Do you believe that Jesus is present in worship and meets with us every week? How does this affect your view of worship? How should it affect your view of worship?
