65 — Long Live the King

LONG LIVE THE KING (LUKE 24:1-12)

God prepares us for hard times through his word which always tells us what we need (even if it’s not what we want).

  • The Resurrection Proves that Jesus is the Son of God Who takes away Our Sins (vv. 1-4; cf. 3:21-22; 9:28-36)

  • Jesus Prepared His Disciples for His Death (and Resurrection) (vv. 5-8)

  • God’s Word Prepares You for Hard Times (vv. 8-12; Psalm 119:11)

Discussion Starters

Monday—Why is the resurrection so important? Why should the resurrection of Jesus matter to you personally?

Tuesday—If Jesus told his followers about his death and resurrection, why were they caught off guard? Do you ever ignore instruction that doesn’t seem relevant to you?

Wednesday—What has to be true before you can remember something? How is remembering like a resurrection?

Thursday—What is the number one thing you can do to prepare for hard times? Are you storing up God’s word in your heart? How?

Friday—What is the most important thing parents can do for their children? How can this passage encourage parents when their children walk away from the Lord?
