53 — Through Tears

THROUGH TEARS (LUKE 19:41-48)

God is not indifferent to your suffering, but allows it (through tears) for your good.

  1. APPROACHING JERUSALEM (VV. 41-42; 18:34)

  2. JUDGMENT IS COMING (VV. 43-46)

  3. THROUGH TEARS (VV. 41, 47-48)

Discussion Starters

Monday—Have you ever thought of God as being distant, unaffected, and detached from your suffering? Why? What’s the danger with thinking this way?

Tuesday—What are the only two times recorded in the Bible of Jesus weeping? How does each help us understand the other?

Wednesday—What are the “things that make for peace”? In what way are they hidden from Jesus’ hearers?

Thursday—Why does God send judgment upon his people? What is his end goal? Is there any other way to lead his people to surrender?

Friday—Do you shed tears for the pain God’s people go through in this world? How does God want you to respond to affliction in your life and the lives of your brothers and sisters?
