69 — Who is Jesus?

WHO IS JESUS?

(LUKE 3:1-6; 5:24; AND 17:20-37)

Jesus is the God of Israel, the Judge of all mankind, and the Savior of all who believe on him.

  • Jesus is the God of Israel (Luke 3:1-6)

  • The Son of Man will Judge the World on the Last Day (Luke 17:20-37)

  • All Who Call Upon the Name of the Lord will be Saved (Luke 5:24; Joel 2:32)

Discussion Starters

Monday—Read Luke 3:4 and Isaiah 40:3. When Luke quotes a passage about Yahweh in Isaiah and says Jesus fulfills it, who is he saying Jesus is? Does the Bible allow any view of Jesus other than the God of Israel?

Tuesday—If Jesus is God, what does that mean that we owe him? Why do people spend so much time trying to make him less than God (an example, a teacher, etc)?

Wednesday—Why does Jesus plan on coming back without any warning? What does it mean to live everyday ready for the last?

Thursday—Why did the God of Creation, the Judge of all the earth, enter into his own creation? How should this comfort you?

Friday—What kept the religious leaders in Jesus’ day from recognizing him? How does pride affect your own heart when it comes to your relationship with God? What is God calling you to let go of?
