Youth Group Work Day

This morning our youth group, partnering with the youth from Timberline Baptist Church, worked on a mobile home with City Gates Ministries.  City Gates works with less fortunate families who are trying to make a new start. One of their projects is mobile home renovations.

When mobile homes are in disrepair, they might be donated to City Gates, who then takes applicants to receive the mobile home once it has been renovated. The three or four best applicants will be forwarded to the landlord of the mobile home park to select one to receive the mobile home as a gift (though they will have the opportunity to put in plenty of sweat equity). The new tenant will just be responsible to pay site rent and upkeep.

Our project this morning was to start demo on a new project by removing the damaged ceilings and flooring. Between our two churches, we had about 15 youth working hard for a few hours. While City Gates needs groups like this at phases of each project, they are also in need of volunteers who are skilled in flooring, pluming, electrical, cabinet installation, and other specialized areas of construction. If you have such skills, consider volunteering. We can put in touch with the coordinator for the project.
